Foundation
In order to protect the endangered primary and secondary forests in the southern Nicoya Peninsula it has been decided to create a foundation: Fundación la Esperanza. This foundation will fulfil our promises in terms of community development as well. Thanks to the foundation’s work, children will get meals and milk in the nearby schools every day. Another important part of the foundation’s efforts is the education in hygiene and health by introducing aseptic systems and regularly scheduled doctor's and dentist's visits. Fundación la Esperanza will help to set up a programme to support tradition folk-dance and music groups, including traditional bread baking. One of the biggest challenges will be the supply of clean drinking water to the community. Local guards will be trained in cooperation with the local police to prevent poaching and cutting trees in the forests.
