Forest Steward Councilship (FSC)
In 2006, the hacienda’s tree farming and reforestation activities will be certified by Smartwood; a programme of the Rainforest Alliance. This is a not for profit organization aiming to conserve, restore and protect the world’s endangered forests under Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standards and guidelines.
This means that the hacienda will produce “certified wood” and will meet a variety of environmental and social requirements in line with international standards.
